Swat AntiSpySpider from your computer once and for all

If you are like most people and you own a PC, you know that you have to arm yourself with a few weapons to stay safe in the Internet age. One program that claims to be able to protect you from all sorts of dangerous programs is AntiSpySpider. However, the reality is that once many people install this program, they wish they hadn't. Not only does it not really live up to expectations, some people find that they can't uninstall it at all

What is AntiSpySpider

AntiSpySpider, and programs like this, are known as rogue anti spyware. This particular program is an exact clone of AntiSpyStorm, and the purpose of both is to get you to purchase the full version to rid your computer of viruses, anti spyware and other problems. Unfortunately, rogue anti spyware typically creates security holes in your system and often isn't able to live up to your expectations in terms of ridding your computer of pests.

What you might notice with AntiSpySpider

Now that you have come into contact with either AntiSpySpider your computer may have begun to act in many different and strange ways.

First, your desktop and your Internet browser are probably inundated with pop up windows. In most cases, they say something like "Warning! Threat Detected." They will then list the threat and suggest that purchasing AntiSpySpider will help keep your computer safe. These pop up windows exist to try to get you to purchase the full version of AntiSpySpider or an associated program. While these pop up advertisements will often occur while you're online, they're just as likely to occur when you have your browser closed.

You may also be receiving pop up windows that act as if they are performing scans of your hard drive to detect viruses, spyware and malware. They tend to pop up with a fairly official looking program window. You'll see a large AntiSpySpider logo at the top as well as tabs for things like "Main Repair," "Registry Repair," and "Disk Sweep." You typically won't have to activate the scan for it to occur. The results will simply be displayed on screen. Unfortunately, the number of "threats found," as they put it, is often terrifying since they usually show your computer on the verge of a complete breakdown. Do not panic, though. Your computer probably does not have all of these scary sounding bugs on it; it is simply a ploy to ensure you purchase the full version of the program.

You may also notice a phenomenon known as browser redirect. A browser redirect is when you open up a web browser and point it to either your start page or another popular page online but you get redirected to the home page for AntiSpySpider or a similar product. These browser hijacks can be difficult to deal with since you can't really stop them, even if you reset your browser's start page manually.

Finally, you may also notice a significant slow down in the way your computer operates. Since AntiSpySpider runs on your machine from the moment you turn your computer on to the moment you turn it off, they take up a good portion of your computer's memory, which can lead to major delays in response time. To remove AntiSpySpider from your machine, keep reading.

How did AntiSpySpider get installed?

AntiSpySpider is installed on your machine through the Zlob or Virtumonde trojan. It can be embedded or hidden in other files, such as in an email attachment or even as part of a download for a completely separate program. Many people download and install freeware programs or shareware programs and don't realize that AntiSpySpider may come with it. One other fairly common method that AntiSpySpider may access your computer is by attempting to automatically install itself via a website. Some web browsers are set to automatically install any software that any website tells them to, although this is happening less and less. If your browser is set this way, change your browser settings immediately for safer web browsing from here on in.

Removing AntiSpySpider

There are two main ways in which you can remove AntiSpySpider from your computer. The first, and by far the easiest, is to use a reputable anti spyware program such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal) . Simply run a scan with this program twice a week and your computer will be in significantly better shape.

The other option is to manually remove the program yourself. Please note that manual removal of programs such as these can be dangerous since you are often asked to change your computer's registry, which is the brain and nerve center of your computer. If you aren't a certified computer expert, please do not attempt a manual removal of this program.
