DealHelper - Helping To Annoy You Every Time You Browse

If you're sick of those popups that won't leave you alone as you search the internet each day, it may be time to evaluate your system for adware. Programs like DealHelper were developed to send you targeted advertisements, and they're sure to keep your annoyance level high.

What is DealHelper?

DealHelper is a service that targets advertisements to you based on your browsing habits. It examines the keywords of each site you look at, transmits those keywords back to its home server, and upload the appropriate popup advertisements based on your browsing needs. DealHelper has the ability to use your internet browser at will to communicate with its home server and update itself. DealHelper claims to be "a product developed to bring you deals, offers, coupons and informational messages on the Internet."

How Did I Get DealHelper?

DealHelper comes bundled with other software. In some cases, you'll be asked whether or not you want to install DealHelper on your machine as part of the installation process for the other software you want. In other cases, though, DealHelper is buried as part of the other software, so installing one means installing the other. Unfortunately, this fact is not always disclosed to unsuspecting users.

What Might I Notice With DealHelper?

If you do have DealHelper on your machine, you will notice several differences in the way your system works. One of the first things you are likely to notice is how slowly your system is running. DealHelper, and programs like it, use a lot of your computer's virtual memory. A good way to see this visually is to look at the "Processes" tab of your Windows Task Manager pane. When DealHelper is running,  you'll notice that your CPU usage is at or above eight percent. Add additional programs to that, especially high needs programs, and you have a virtual traffic jam on your hands. Your system wants to run all of the programs at once, but it has difficult doing so.

Another sure sign that DealHelper has become part of your machine is the advertisement material you will see on a regular basis. While you are online, you will be sent a series of DealHelper advertisements. Some of them may look like coupons. Some may even look like games to play. Beware of clicking on these advertisements, though, because many of them will take you to websites where additional adware and spyware could be installed on your machine. As a result, it is best to steer clear of them at all costs. One of the more serious problems with these advertisements is that DealHelper does not regulate its advertisers. As a result, you could be sent popups for adult oriented sites or gambling sites, and if you have minor children who use the computer on a regular basis, this can be a bit of a problem.

How Can I Remove DealHelper?

There are several ways you can remove DealHelper from your system. First, you can try to remove it using the add/remove programs function of your control panel. Many users report that this simply doesn't work, though. While it may look initially as if it is going to leave the computer, in many cases, it simple comes back the next time you turn the machine on.

Your next option is to remove it using the system restore function of  your computer. Keep in mind, though, that this may only work right after DealHelper has been installed on your machine, and many individuals don't notice the program until it's been there for several days.

You can also remove DealHelper using your current antispyware software. If you don't have antispyware software, ParetoLogic is an excellent choice. Keep it updated regularly, and be sure to scan your computer at least once each week. ParetoLogic will not only remove DealHelper, it will also help to protect you from other similar threats.

DealHelper is certain to annoy you if nothing else. Remove DealHelper from your system today.
