ErrorDoctor
ErrorDoctor
If you have a pop-up blocker which normally keeps you free from these nuisances, why are you seeing so many lately? This could be a sign that ErrorDoctor is installed on your computer. What is ErrorDoctor?
ErrorDoctor is one of a number of rogue registry cleaners that can become installed in your computer through various means. The sole purpose of ErrorDoctor is to use aggressive tactics in order to urge end users to purchase and install its protection from hidden problems on your computer. In reality, this "protection" is of no worth. This program is also known as ErrorDoctor 2007 and ErrorDoctor 2008. How Do I Know if ErrorDoctor is Installed on My Computer?
Rogue registry cleaners like this one produce many telltale signs of their presence in your system, and ErrorDoctor is no different. You will probably notice that you are receiving far more pop-ups than usual. In fact, you may never get them, and all of a sudden, you receive them every time you are online. ErrorDoctor does this to reinforce its message that your computer is at risk of problems associated with hidden errors. You will probably also notice a difference in the speed at which your computer functions. When programs like ErrorDoctor are installed, they use your system resources in order to operate. This can divert your resources from performing their ordinary tasks. Rebooting your computer or switching from task to task will take much longer than normal. Additionally, ErrorDoctor may change your browser's start page and it may also have added a number of different shortcuts without your knowledge or permission. Most of these links will lead you directly to ErrorDoctor or one of its sibling programs. What Risks Does ErrorDoctor Pose to My Computer?
You may be tempted to leave ErrorDoctor on your computer if you can deal with the annoyance of pop-ups. Not removing this program or any other rogue, however, can lead to more problems within your system. ErrorDoctor can continue to impair the functioning and performance of your computer. It can also exploit existing security holes in order to introduce other programs into your system. In short, it creates a level of vulnerability in your system. Of course, if you were not aware that ErrorDoctor was a rogue registry cleaner, you may be frightened into purchasing the package. If this is the case, you have just paid for a useless product. ErrorDoctor will do nothing to fix your existing problems with your registry. How Did ErrorDoctor Get Installed in My Computer?
ErrorDoctor most likely was introduced to your system through a Trojan. This can happen in a number of ways. One of the most common is when you download free videos. These are often bundled with hidden programs, and when you download the video, you inadvertently let the Trojan in. The Trojan can carry in programs like Error Doctor. This can happen, also, when you open a spam email or download an infected email attachment. Visiting certain websites, particularly adult or gaming sites, can also make you more vulnerable to programs like this one. Clicking on links within these sites, and sometimes merely entering the sites, can cause Trojans to enter your system. You may also have elected to download ErrorDoctor voluntarily, believing it was a program that could resolve any current registry errors. Being bombarded with an warnings is intimidating, so it is no wonder why people opt to purchase a program they think will help. Unfortunately, downloading ErrorDoctor will not help resolve or prevent problems. ErrorDoctor Removal
When you realize that ErrorDoctor has been installed, it is important to remove it completely. Before you start, here are some things that will not work reliably and effectively to remove ErrorDoctor. First, using the Add/Remove Programs utility is usually not sufficient to remove the program or other rogue programs. This is because these programs have been designed to resist removal. You may remove visible signs that ErrorDoctor is on your computer, but it still may be present in your system. Also, running your current virus scan program does not work because ErrorDoctor is not a virus. These programs are not designed to pick up rogue programs. A far better choice is to purchase a reliable anti spyware software program, like ParetoLogic's XoftSpySE, that is intended to detect and remove ErrorDoctor and other similar programs. These thoroughly scan your entire system to root out any and all files that are associated with ErrorDoctor (this is important because if not completely eliminated, ErrorDoctor can recreate itself). They are then removed entirely. This will resolve problems that you have been experiencing and keep new ones from cropping up. You can also manually remove ErrorDoctor. Be cautious if you plan to pursue this option because it is extremely difficult. It requires an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of your system registry. It is very easy to miss files or registries that are associated with ErrorDoctor or to accidently delete a necessary file. Both can potentially cause more damage to your computer. If you have extensive technical knowledge and experience, as well as time and patience, you can do the following to remove ErrorDoctor: Find the ErrorDoctor Directory: %ProgramFiles%SoftwareDoctorErrorDoctor Remove ErrorDoctor Processes: ErrorDoctorSetup[1].exe DotNetInstaller.exe ErrorDoctor.exe Remove Registry Values: SoftwareDoctorErrorDoctor ErrorDoctor HKEY_ALL_USERSSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerMenuOrderStart MenuProgramsSoftwareDoctor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESoftwareDoctor Unregister DLL Files: iKernel.dll Objectps.dll iGdi.dll setup.dll iuser.dll iscript.dll ctor.dll Delete Files: ErrorDoctorSetup[1].exe IsProBE.tlb iKernel.rgs iKernel.dll Objectps.dll iGdi.dll setup.dll iuser.dll iscript.dll ctor.dll Uninstall.lnk ErrorDoctor.lnk DotNetInstaller.exe ErrorDoctor.exe |
