Vaccinating Your Machine From GreenVaccine

It's essential these days that you protect your computer from harm, and for many, that means downloading security software that will keep you safe from spyware and viruses alike. Unfortunately, some take the idea of vaccinating your computer and use it against your best intentions, and GreenVaccine does exactly that.

GreenVaccine - A Primer

If you're just now becoming familiar with this program, here's a brief overview of what you need to know. GreenVaccine is a Korean program, and the overall goal is to notify you, sometimes in a frightening manner, that you have spyware or viruses installed on your system. From there, you'll be asked to remove them by purchasing a full version of the program. Unfortunately, however, purchasing the full version will do you little good, as GreenVaccine can't actually remove anything from your computer at all.

It looks like a fairly legitimate program, but all of the material you'll see is in Korean. In the left corner, you'll see the GreenVaccine logo, and there's a green menu bar across the top. You may also see a Korean phone number in the bottom right corner of the program.

GreenVaccine, also called Green Vaccine, resembles both EzPrivacy and VirusCure, but it is unknown whether these programs are actually related to one another. One of the most common questions once you realize the program is installed is how it got there in the first place, and for most, this answer involves Trojans. These can sneak onto your computer in a variety of different ways, but it typically gets installed when you click on an advertisement. It may also, however, be bundled with shareware or freeware or it could come through an attachment in an email. In some cases, though, people think GreenVaccine is a trustworthy program and choose to download the trial version and install it. While it's a fairly common mistake, it should still be removed from your computer.

Often Called Rogue AntiSpyware

As you begin reading about this program, you may hear it called rogue antispyware. This term is a fairly simple one. It just means that GreenVaccine is a program that often acts like other actual security programs on the market today, but it just doesn't have the built in features that other reputable programs might have. While it may look just like those other security programs you see on the market, it doesn't actually have the ability to keep those problem programs out of your system for good, and that's why it pays to be careful as you shop for security software.

GreenVaccine Signs

  • If you do have GreenVaccine installed on your machine, one of the first things you're likely to notice is the overall sluggish performance on your computer. As with many of these programs, GreenVaccine is designed to run as soon as you start the machine. Unfortunately, that means that while you're trying to launch other programs like your browser or word processor, it is running in the background, and that can put a real damper on your available system resources. As a result, it seems like it takes forever just to open a single program or to switch from program to program.
  • In addition to poor performance, you may also notice some popup advertisements for the program. These are frequently in Korean, so you may have some trouble reading them, but their goal is to frighten you into purchasing the full version of the program to keep your computer safe. They could resemble Windows Notification Balloons or a slightly more traditional pop up advertisement, and in most cases, both versions occur pretty frequently.
  • A scanning window may also pop up as you're running other programs, and after it scans your computer, it will find some results that may look quite authentic. Be advised, however, that it finds the same results on every single computer. You likely have none of the programs it suggests you do during the course of the scan.

Will Virus Protection Help?

You must understand that GreenVaccine isn't actually a virus. As a result, if you currently have an antivirus program installed on your machine, it can't remove this program for you. Antivirus programs are designed to do one major thing - remove viruses. However, because GreenVaccine isn't classified as a virus, you need a much stronger solution than that. A complete security suite is an absolute must in this case, as a simple antivirus program can't help you deal with all of the potential problems you might encounter eventually while you're online.

Removing GreenVaccine

There are two primary ways to remove GreenVaccine from your computer. The first is to manually remove it from your system. As simple as this sounds, however, it's not quite as easy as you might imagine. Not only will you need to remove the actual program files from your computer, but you'll also need to delete any registry entries as well, and if you've never been inside your computer's registry, it's best to leave this task to the professionals. If you make a mistake while you're in the registry, you could do serious damage to the computer as a whole. A list of manual removal procedures, however, does appear at the end of this article.

The better way to remove GreenVaccine from your computer, however, is to use a comprehensive security program to help. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal) or Enigma's SpyHunter are both good choices. Instead of having to go through several different steps before the program is eliminated from your computer, you can simply click scan, and it will ask you if you want to delete it permanently. What's better, though, is that you can set these programs to scan and remove problem programs on a regular basis so you don't have to deal with them in the future.

If you do have GreenVaccine installed on your computer, it doesn't really matter how it got there or which removal method you choose. What does matter, however, is that you eliminate it as quickly as possible to help keep you safe while you're online.

Manually Removing GreenVaccine -

Through the Task Manager, you'll need to stop greenvaccine.exe.

Then enter your computer's registry and delete the following registry values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\greenvaccine
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\greenvaccine

From there, you need to delete greenvaccine.exe from your program files as well as the directory called C:\Program Files\greenvaccine\

Removing GreenVaccine Automatically/Safely

For free automatic removal we recommend using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. This program is widely recommended by reputable third-party sites, so you can be reasonably confident of its ability to safely get rid of GreenVaccine and any hidden Trojans. As a precaution we recommend double checking your system with SpyHunter. This program requires paid registration to enable deletions, however it has a money back guaranteed and is the top of the line in malware removal. It should catch malware that evades Malwarebytes and block anything that tries to reinstal itself.
