ISTbar - The Unhelpful Toolbar

What is ISTbar?

ISTbar is a BHO, or browser helper object. It occurs in your system in the form of a toolbar for Internet Explorer. In theory, the program only sends you ads, but in reality, it does much more than that. In order to send you ads from affiliate sites, it watches your every move online. It takes over your internet browsing experience. Instead of getting the unbiased search results you may be looking for, you'll be directed to the sites ISTbar wants you to see. It updates itself and installs other programs without your knowledge or consent.

What Are Some Problems I Might Notice With ISTbar?

Once ISTbar has installed itself on your system, you may notice a number of things. First, obviously, you'll notice the new toolbar in Internet Explorer. You'll also notice that your home page has been changed to www.slotch.com/. Other things you might notice, though, include a general system slowdown. You see, without ever knowing it, ISTbar leads to more unwanted programs on your system. It can even download dialers that will communicate your personal information via your internet connection whenever they want. If you only have a few hours of internet time per month through your service provider, this can cost you money. The dialers and additional programs that are a part of ISTbar muck up your running system, causing a general slow down of everything involved with your computer time. Another one of the biggest problems with ISTbar is the advertisements it displays when you're on and offline. Where Does ISTbar Come From?

There are a few ways you might have gotten ISTbar on your system. Most users report that it was attached to another download, and it simply installed itself and took over the machine. Many others report, though, that while visiting certain sites, they were asked permission to run an ActiveX code. Once granted, ISTbar and several other adware programs made their way onto the machine.

How Can I Remove ISTbar?

Removing ISTbar Automatically/Safely
