If you find pop-up advertisements in excess as you browse the web, you could have Mirar on your system. Mirar is an adware program like many others, and as with other adware programs, it is certain to cause system problems in the form of popup ads, popunder ads,  and general system slow downs.

What is Mirar?

Mirar is a BHO or browser helper object. Mirar appears as a toolbar for Internet Explorer. It's website claims it is a harmless program designed only to help you. From the site, "The Mirar Toolbar provides content relevant information while you browse the web. Finding pages of similar topic and interest to the page you're on it shortens the time required to find the info you need." While it may sound helpful, though, there are several problems. The only relevant information it will provide for you are ads for various programs and products that you don't need. All of the buttons on the toolbar will lead you directly to an advertiser's site, not to helpful, unbiased information. Moreover, Mirar can install itself on your system. without your knowledge. It can also install companion programs like SaveNow causing more difficulties on your system.

Mirar, though, is also classic adware. That means that you're sure to be hassled with ads that you don't need and that you didn't invite to become a part of your system. Any time you have adware on your system, you are being watched. The information you view is sent back to another server so you can be sent relevant ads, and that's where the real problem lies - your privacy rights.

Where Did Mirar Come From?

Mirar was created by Net Nucleus, a company that claims to be the next big thing in the gathering of data from internet users. Mirar is also known as Getmirar online.Other program aliases include NN_Bar and webband. Because the internet is wholly unregulated, and Mirar isn't a true danger to your system, it is free to function however it wants.

Is Mirar Dangerous?

According to many, Mirar is a low level threat. That means it is slightly dangerous. For most adware removal programs, it is classified as a low to moderate risk to your system as a whole. It installs without your knowledge, which is a real problem, and it opens a gateway to install other related programs. In theory, it can both watch and track your movements online, which can leave you vulnerable to other security issues.

How Do I Know If I Have Mirar?

If you've noticed a new toolbar, or new advertisements related the the pages you are currently viewing online seem to be popping up at will, the chances are quite good that you have Mirar or a related form of adware. While it is not immediately dangerous to your system, getting rid of it is a really good idea. Almost all versions of Windows can be affected by Mirar, so unless you're running an alternate platform, you're probably at risk.
