PestCapture - Capturing Your Computer

Think you might have PestCapture? PestCapture is an adware program that can commandeer your computer and cause a whole host of problems. Removing PestCapture as soon as you can is incredibly important.

The Mythology of PestCapture

PestCapture is certainly one of the larger problems in today's computer world. It has several different ways of creating problems on your computer, and it goes about it in a less than honest fashion. While you might know not to download suspicious files or respond to website pop-ups, it can be hard to tell the difference between a website pop-up designed to look like a genuine computer message and the real thing. PestCapture takes advantage of this, and the consequences can be catastrophic for your personal information, files and for your computer as a whole. One of the biggest problems with PestCapture is that it will try to tell you that you need to buy the program to remove bugs, but it was PestCapture that put the bugs on your computer in the first place.

What Might I Notice?

There are lots of ways you might find out if you have PestCapture. The most prominent way you can tell if you have PestCapture is if you notice a series of informational balloons that will pop up in the bottom right part of your screen just above your Quick Launch Toolbar. The balloons will say that your PC is infected with spyware and that you need this program, PestCapture, to fix everything. Don't click on these balloons because it will only make matters worse. What makes this particular program so confusing is that the pop-up bubble is right, your machine is at risk, but you don't want anything to do with the cure they recommend.

Back from the Dead - The Rise of PestCapture

Another aspect that makes PestCapture a real problem is the fact that it can come back on a continual basis. If you try to uninstall the program, you might be surprised to find it on your screen again when you restart. It doesn't matter how you try to get rid of it,  if you don't remove every part of it, including a pesky .dll file that doesn't want to be removed, you'll have to keep dealing with the headaches associated with PestCapture well into the future.

PestCapture and the Power of Three

PestCapture is actually classified as three different kinds of adware programs. It is a trojan program, which sneaks itself onto your computer and installs itself without your knowledge or permission. It is also a ransomware program that will display concerning messages on your machine until you have bought the full version of the program.  Finally, it is a hijacker that can allow someone to take over your computer at any time to steal information and files or to just destroy your computer with another set of viruses. Understanding each of the three powers of this program will help you to understand a bit more about how it works.

PestCapture is a Trojan. A Trojan is simply any program that makes itself at home on your computer without your knowledge. It can come as e-mail spam, or it can just install without your knowledge as part of another download. Once there, the Trojan begins to act as a hijacker, meaning it allows someone from the outside to operate your computer against your will. They can move files around or take them off of your computer, entirely. They can also cause serious damage to your computer if they want to by trying to erase your hard drive. In a worst-case scenario, they could put enough other material on your PC that it will become very hard to use.

PestCapture is also ransomware. Ransomware is exactly what it sounds like: a program that effectively takes your computer hostage. The popup bubbles will display on a continual basis until you have purchased the program in full.

How Do I Remove PestCapture

Luckily, PestCapture doesn't have to mean the end of your computer. There are ways to remove PestCapture, but it is always a good idea to back up all of your work and create a System Restore point on your PC before trying to remove any malicious programs.

The first thing you can try to remove PestCapture is using the Add/Remove programs utility that is located in the Control Panel. Once you locate and find the program, remove it and then restart your program. There is a chance, albeit a small one, that this will completely remove the problem from your computer, but most likely, it will only remove part of the problem, leaving the pesky .dll file still on your hard drive and still starting up every time you turn on your computer. The PestCapture program will then download itself to your computer again, and you'll be right back where you started.

You could also try removing PestCapture through your system registry. In order to do this, there are several files you'll need to remove. Be sure you catch all of them, or the program will simply reinstall itself the next time you start your computer. Also, if you do intend to work within your system registry, be careful. Making a mistake in the computer's registry could cause a serious problem that is not easily solved.

The best option, then, for removing PestCapture is to use a first class anti-virus program. There are many good programs out there, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal)  is a pretty good bet. Simply run the program after you install it and it will detect PestCapture and completely remove it. Problem solved! You'll need to update your anti-virus software on a regular basis to protect yourself from future problems with PestCapture and its associates.

Removing PestCapture Automatically/Safely

For free automatic removal we recommend using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. This program is widely recommended by reputable third-party sites, so you can be reasonably confident of its ability to safely get rid of PestCapture and any hidden Trojans. As a precaution we recommend double checking your system with SpyHunter. This program requires paid registration to enable deletions, however it has a money back guaranteed and is the top of the line in malware removal. It should catch malware that evades Malwarebytes and block anything that tries to reinstal itself.
