PlayMP3zTune out PlayMP3z for good with these helpful tips It is almost impossible to accurately measure all of the different ways the Internet has touched our lives. It has made communication easier, and it has made encyclopedia sets obsolete. Perhaps the most exciting way the Internet has changed our lives is the way we all listen to and access music. However, the history of the Internet is littered with programs that have made getting that music difficult. Entire generations of computers were filled with adware and spyware that came with programs like Kazaa, and now new programs like PlayMP3z are adding to our frustrations. Many people download PlayMP3z thinking it will help them download music, only to find out that their computers were better off without it. Let's take a look at what PlayMP3z is and how we can get rid of it for good. What is PlayMP3z? On the surface, PlayMP3z looks like a neat computer utility that fits right into your web browser and plays all of your favorite MP3 music files without having to download a separate player. In reality, though, PlayMP3z causes all sorts of ads to pop up on your screen, and when you try to uninstall it from your browser, you will often find that it doesn't go away very easily. You will probably be inundated with pop-up ads, as well as fake computer scans telling you that your computer is filled with viruses and adware as long as PlayMP3z remains on your system. The point of PlayMP3z is to get you to download full versions of other programs and pay for them. What You Might Notice With Playmp3z The biggest tell-tale sign that you have PlayMP3z installed on your computer is the appearance of it in your browser. PlayMP3z can show up as a toolbar either at the top or the bottom of your browser window or as a little box that shows up and displays the name of the song it is playing. While PlayMP3z alone isn't going to affect your machine, it is the bundled other software that causes the headaches. The next thing you will notice is an increased number of popup ad windows. All of these windows will be trying to sell you a variety of products. Most of the time it is an anti-virus program, but it can also be a new music player or just about any other kind of program. You may notice these whether you are online or offline. You will also notice a significant slowdown in the way your computer operates. This is because the bundled programs that come with PlayMP3z are running in the background from the time you start your computer to the time you turn it off. These background processes eat up your computer resources making everything from the initial start to program load times very slow. Finally, programs like PlayMP3z are famous for performing browser hijacks. A browser hijack occurs when your web browser is redirected to a site you never asked it to go to. This happens most often when you try to access your start page, and you are sent to a page selling a product. How Did Playmp3z Get There? In most cases, you inadvertently installed the programs that are causing you problems when you installed PlayMP3z, although that isn't always how these programs get onto your computer. You may not even have been trying to download PlayMP3z; you may have been downloading another freeware or shareware program that had PlayMP3z bundled with it. This happens when companies try to offset the cost of development and web hosting. You may also have gotten PlayMP3z installed on your computer when you visited a website that automatically installed it on your machine. To make sure this doesn't happen again, change your browser security settings to never allow automatic installations from any website. You could have received PlayMP3z in an email from someone you know or from a mass "spam" email. Never open email attachments without knowing exactly what it is you are opening. Removing PlayMP3z You have two main choices when it comes to removing PlayMP3z from your computer for good. The easiest and best choice is to download and install a trustworthy anti-spyware program like ParetoLogic's XoftSpySE and run it at least once a week. You can also attempt a manual removal of PlayMP3z, but this should only be attempted by a computer expert. When you manually remove a program from your computer, you run the risk of deleting files that are necessary for your computer to run properly. You will also have to change your computer's registry, which can be extremely dangerous if not done correctly. Make sure you back up all of your files before you attempt a manual removal of any program from your hard drive. A list of files and registry keys to remove appears at the end of this article. PlayMP3z seems like a handy utility, but it's best for both you and your computer if you remove it at your first opportunity. To manually uninstall PlayMP3z, first stop the following processes: PlayMP3.exe temp.tmp.exe tem2.tmp.exe tem1A.tmp.exe tem12.tmp.exe Second, delete the following values from your registry: 3EBD951B-79DD-3481-19CF-FD699427A164 InternetSoftware.PrecacheBrowserHost.1 InternetSoftware.PrecacheBrowserHost InternetSoftware.PornPro_BHO.1 InternetSoftware.PornPro_BHO InternetSoftware.BrowserWatcher.1 InternetSoftware.BrowserWatcher FFD09307-538D-2A45-93F9-C1C36CBD81FE 82A42CAC-054E-FD78-0601-83923D1E18B3 0644DA8F-A2AF-ED38-3652-7519D25326A6 D1F10773-1014-13A8-913E-E183471A7C7B AF7E9EBB-E1CF-7F7C-C608-13185698F3E9 3F53FE7A-7029-E915-B0D1-7F0F565A66FD AppIDE4DF2598-D365-DD35-76DD-094F23B825E0 MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerMenuOrderStart Menu2ProgramsPlayMP3z F1E96EDC-E0C8-BE98-1F15-C29DBED83B53 0A2A22E9-C506-4079-94A9-3653B7927D69 E82E0739-0AAE-4E99-9052-B40F7DABFA34 0D39A900-0F3A-4C29-A254-3E65244FDC34 Next, delete the following .dll files: InternetSoftware-2.dll InternetSoftware-1.dll BrowsingAdvisor-2.dll Anonystat-2.dll ContextTool-3.dll ErrorsTool-2.dll ContextTool-2.dll Finally, delete the following files: Run PlayMP3z.lnk PlayMP3.exe temE.tmp.exe tem2.tmp.exe tem1A.tmp.exe tem12.tmp.exe InternetSoftware-2.dll InternetSoftware-1.dll BrowsingAdvisor-2.dll Anonystat-2.dll ContextTool-3.dll ErrorsTool-2.dll ContextTool-2.dll |
