Sweet Security Doesn't Come from Security Suite

You want to protect your computer, right? These days, though, it's tough to sort out the programs that can actually help from the ones that simply want to take your money. Security Suite is one program you certainly don't want installed on your system, as it can do little to help you actually protect your machine.

Understanding Security Suite

Security Suite has been dubbed by many to be rogue antispyware, and if you're not familiar with the term, it's probably a good idea to understand the basics in this case. These kinds of programs resemble actual antispyware solutions. In fact, they often have scanners and tell you they can clean your machine. The problem, however, is that they simply don't have the capabilities to do that, and they might mislead you into believing they can. That presents a real problem not only because you're not getting the resolution you need, but also because these problems can occasionally open other kinds of security holes in your system, and that could lead to further problems in the future.

This program also has two similar programs out there. AV Security Suite is one of them and Antivir Solution Pro is the other. The program is typically installed thank to Trojans, and there are several different ways those can sneak onto your computer. Here's one of the most common ways:

• When you click on a pop up ad associated with a website you're visiting, your actually clicking a message to your computer to install the file that is associated with the link.
• Once you click, your computer automatically installs the file.
• When you try to run anything as you normally might, you're now running with this program on in the background.

In other cases, though, it's possible that you got it when you downloaded some freeware or shareware, and this program was bundled with it. It is equally possible that you got it thanks to an email attachment. Others get the program when they download it directly. Because it disguises itself as a legitimate security program, you may find yourself thinking that it's a good idea. The reality, however, is much different.

If you do have Security Suite installed on your machine, you're going to notice several different problems. First, this program has the ability to slow your overall system performance. It starts as soon as your computer does, and that means that the resources normally reserved for your browser or word processing program are now dedicated to it. As a result, simply trying to start a program or switch between programs can be a frustrating, lengthy ordeal.

There are other things you may notice too. It's pretty common to see pop up security alerts with this program, and all of them will warn you about threats to your computer. Some say things like Antivirus Software Alert while others will say Windows Security Alert. Both types are made to frighten you into purchasing the full version of the program to help protect your machine. Here's the text for a couple of the ones you may see flash across your screen:

In addition to the slow system and the pop ups, you're also going to see regular system scans. The scan window itself is fairly convincing. With a shield that looks a lot like Windows Defender, and a very official logo, it can be tough to tell it from the online programs designed to help you. It also has a menu bar down the left side of the program that gives you options like Perform Scan, Adjust Settings, Get Updates, and Help and Support. The main program window is devoted to the scan process itself, and it can find some pretty scary stuff. In most cases, you either don't have those actual files, or Security Suite has created them for you to help lend legitimacy to the fact that you need their program.

Clicking on the scan window or even the popup security alerts will lead you to a screen where you can purchase a full version of the program. Doing so, though, will neither make your system safer or eliminate the problems this program can create.

Fighting Security Suite with Antivirus Software

Remember, Security Suite is absolutely not a virus. It's possible that you've installed great antivirus software on your machine, and you still have this program installed too. That's because antivirus software is only designed to keep viruses away from your computer, so a better overall solution is an absolute must if you plan to spend much time online.

Removing Security Suite

It is possible to remove Security Suite from your machine, but you'll have to choose the best way to do so. There are two effective removal procedures. If you're looking for the easiest way, you'll likely want to download and install an effective antispyware program. There are many of these on the market. You could certainly try PC Tools' Spyware Doctor or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal) . No matter which program you choose, though, make certain you're getting a reputable solution, not another piece of rogue antispyware. After you've installed the program, update it, then run a scan on your system. It should quickly find Security Suite and remove it from your machine. After your scan has finished, you can set it to update and scan your computer on a weekly basis to help keep you safe from other rogue antispyware programs in the future.

The alternate Security Suite removal method involves manually removing it from your computer on your own. A list of affected files and registry keys is included at the close of this article. It's essential that you understand, however, that this method can be slightly more dangerous. If you're not used to working within your computer's registry or even deleting program files, it's best if you don't handle it in this case either. Deleting the wrong program file or making a mistake while you're inside your computer's registry can be devastating to the machine as a whole, and the chances are quite good that you'll be left in a far worse position should that happen. 

No matter how you choose to remove Security Suite from your computer, your best bet is to remove it right away to help protect your machine from any ongoing problems. Once you have done so, installing antispyware and antivirus solutions from reputable companies will protect your computer well into the future.

Removing Security Suite Automatically/Safely
