SpyFalcon - Problematic Adware

Noticed a few too many popups suggesting that you have dangerous spyware installed on your machine? Is your system a bit slower than it used to be? The chances are pretty good that you have some adware on your computer, and one program that might be installed on your machine is SpyFalcon.

What is SpyFalcon?

SpyFalcon is adware that claims to be an anti-spyware product needed to protect you computer from dangerous spyware. It will continually intimidate and frighten you into believing there are truly deep rooted problems with your machine, and that if you don't purchase the full version of SpyFalcon, these problems can never be eliminated.

Are There Programs Related to SpyFalcon?

There are several programs related to SpyFalcon, but the one that seems to be most closely related to it is SpyAxe. Both have similar tactics, have been noticed at similar IP addresses, and both seem to install each other on every machine they become a part of.

What Might I Notice with SpyFalcon?

There are several symptoms that you have the unwanted SpyFalcon visitor on your machine. One of the first things you might notice is that your home page has been changed to SpyFalcon.com. Your interent security settings may also have been changed to allow for easier downloading of other adware and spyware programs. Another quite frightening symptom of the SpyFalcon problem is small alerts you will receive on your computer. There are a number of ways you might get these alerts. You could get pop-ups or pop-unders while you are browsing the web. You may also get a pop-up ad when you aren't even connected to the internet. By far, though, the most common alert you will get is one that appears in your task bar or system tray. It will claim to be from the Microsoft Security Center, and it will tell you that you machine has been infected with spyware. According to the alert, the only way to get rid of the spyware and clean your machine is to run its special anti-spyware tool. This alert, though, has not a grain of truth in it. If you do have spyware on your machine, the chances are quite good that it got there at the same time SpyFalcon did, and SpyFalcon is not willing to clean your machine without cleaning your pocketbook first. Even if you do follow the directions and purchase the product, your machine will not be safe from other spyware infections.

How Can I Remove SpyFalcon?

In order to remove SpyFalcon, you can try just running the add/remove programs control panel, but there's a good chance that it won't work. Unfortunately, programs like SpyFalcon root themselves deep within your system. If just a single file is missed during any given uninstall, SpyFalcon stays on your machine to reinstall itself another time. If you're looking to remove SpyFalcon, you have three good options. The first option is to run a system restore or boot to your computer's last known good settings. You may lose some data in this process, but it is certainly possible that  you will lose SpyFalcon as well. Keep in mind, though, that SpyFalcon can become a part of any Windows operating system, and system restore is not an option for all Windows users. You should also remember that it's possible SpyFalcon can find a way to evade the system restore function. Your next option is to manually remove SpyFalcon from your machine. This involves deleting all of the program files and all of the registry keys this adware creates. If you are not familiar with how to handle the program files on your machine, and you've never worked within the registry before, now is probably not the time to start, and if you feel you must, please do so with a professional at  your side. If you make a mistake while working within your registry, it could certainly compromise the interworkings of your machine, leaving you in a much worse state than when you just had to deal with SpyFalcon. Your final option is to run your current anti-spyware product. If you don't currently have a reputable anti-spyware product on your machine, get one today. ParetoLogic is a great choice. Update regularly, and run a scan about once a week.

SpyFalcon is a hassle that can hurt your computer productivity time. Remove SpyFalcon today.
