Get Rid Of SpyMaxx

An increase in pop-ups and warning messages, as well as a general sluggishness in your system could mean that SpyMaxx is installed on your computer.

What Is SpyMaxx?

SpyMaxx is a rogue antivirus program and behaves in much the same manner as others in that category. This program displays pop-up ads and warning messages that urge users to protect their computer from security threats with SpyMaxx.  Users are often unaware that the results of any security scans are false and designed solely to trick them into downloading SpyMaxx.  SpyMaxx is also known as Pandora-Software, WinIFixer, InfeStop, and AntiSpyStorm.

What Are the Signs that SpyMaxx is Installed in My System?

If you download a trial version of SpyMaxx, either purposely or inadvertently, there is a dormancy period in which the program is adjusting your computer's settings.  During this time, you will notice very little change in your system.  It may reboot unexpectedly, without giving you any prompt.  If this happens, it is likely that SpyMaxx is rebooting in order to save its new settings.  If this happens to you, it could mean SpyMaxx or another rogue antivirus program is installed on your computer, and you will soon notice more changes.

Once SpyMaxx becomes installed on your computer, you will notice changes in your computer's performance and functioning.  The first sign you will likely notice is an increase in pop-ups and warning messages.  SpyMaxx floods your system with them in order to convince you that you have several security issues and should protect your computer with its help.  SpyMaxx may also disable your existing pop-up blocker. It may also cause pop-ups from adult sites to appear whether or not you are connected to the internet.

The appearance of your background and taskbar may also be affected.  SpyMaxx can create desktop shortcuts and icons in your system tray.  When you click on the icons, you are greeted by yet more ads for SpyMaxx.  This program can also hijack your browser start page.  It then redirects you to its website.  Even if you switch it back, SpyMaxx can reset its changes after your reboot.  It can even change your desktop settings and wallpaper.

Your computer is also very likely to function much more slowly than usual.  Starting your system and transitioning between programs can take minutes where it took seconds before.  This is another good indication that your system has a rogue antivirus program installed within it.

What Risks Does SpyMaxx Present to My System?

Besides the difficulties mentioned above, SpyMaxx may cause more serious problems with the functioning of your computer.  SpyMaxx may block your access to the internet, alter your system registry so that it loads when you start your computer, cause error alert beeps, and install other programs.

SpyMaxx can also record your online activity, generate outside connections so it can download updates, introduce Trojans through existing security holes, disable antivirus and firewall protections, and track your web browsing habits so it can create pop-up ads to correspond.  These activities may cause extensive damage to your system and impair its performance.

How Did I Install SpyMaxx?

SpyMaxx can enter your system in a number of ways, as can other rogue antivirus programs.  Most typically, installation occurs through a Trojan.  Just visiting certain websites is often enough to download a Trojan.  Adult sites and warez sites are known to be especially prone to harboring Trojans.  Even if you don't visit questionable sites, you may pick up a Trojan by downloading a free video.  Zlob is one such Trojan that disguises itself as a video codec.  It can enter your system and carry in malware when you download free or shared videos.

It is also possible to download Trojans when you open infected email and/or email attachments.  This is why opening spam mail is never a good idea.

You may have also accidently installed SpyMaxx by clicking on one of its pop-ups or warnings or by visiting the website.  In this way, SpyMaxx can enter your system without your consent and even without your knowledge.  You may also be persuaded into purchasing its "protection" after being frightened by the myriad of security warnings you've received.

Can I Remove SpyMaxx?

There are various ways you can remove SpyMaxx, and you should do this as soon as possible.  If you are aware there is a rogue antivirus program on your system, you may have already tried to delete it using your add/remove utility.  This may or may not take care of the problem.  Likely, there are still traces of SpyMaxx in your system - these programs are savvy and adept at hiding themselves where easy, quick measures won't find them.  Likewise with your current antivirus scan.  SpyMaxx, like other rogue antivirus programs, are not viruses.  This is not a reliable method of removal.

Since SpyMaxx is able to recreate itself if any files or registries have been left in your system, it is important to thoroughly remove the program in its entirety. You can use one of two methods to do this.  The first, and most recommended, is to use a reputable software program to automatically remove SpyMaxx for you.  Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal) , for instance, can thoroughly scan your system, detect unwanted malware like SpyMaxx, and remove it.  This ensures that you are not putting your computer in danger by manually deleting files, which is your other option.

Manual removal of SpyMaxx is very difficult. It requires extensive computer knowledge and experience because you have to work with your system registry and delete all the files associated with SpyMaxx without deleting any necessary ones.  This is easier said than done, and it is very easy to make an error which can cause more damage to your computer.  If you have the time, patience, and skills to complete the meticulous work, do the following to remove SpyMaxx from your system:
