Put an end to SpyPry forever

One of the hardest parts of learning to become an Internet expert is sifting through all of the programs that look great on the surface, but aren't all they are cracked up to be upon further examination. There are literally millions of programs out there that fit this description, and although no one knows every single one off of the top of their heads, that doesn't mean that there aren't libraries of information available at your fingertips if you want to look for them. One such program is SpyPry. On the surface, this program looks like it would be a big help to anyone looking to keep their computer safe from viruses, spyware, and adware, but in reality, people often realize that they were better off before they installed it. Let's take a look at SpyPry and see how we can remove this program from our hard drives once and for all.

What is SpyPry?

SpyPry falls into the category of rogue anti-spyware. It is a program that, on the surface, looks like it would do a great job of protecting you and your computer from Internet bad guys, when, in fact, it doesn't. SpyPry will flood your computer with pop-up ads, asking you to buy and download the full version of SpyPry because you have many imminent threats to your system. The program will also pop up fake computer scan windows list lots of scary-sounding viruses and malware. In almost all cases, these scans are a bit off-base, and they only exist to get you to purchase and download the program in question.

What you might notice with SpyPry

Depending on whether you installed a trial version of SpyPry yourself or if the program was downloaded for you, the SpyPry program will almost automatically flood your screen with pop-up windows that advertise SpyPry, and suggest you download the full version right away for a fee. Sometimes, these pop-up windows can get so cluttered that it can be impossible to operate your computer. In cases like these, you will be forced to close out your browser altogether, or you might even have to restart your computer to get them to all go away.

If you downloaded the trial version of SpyPry, you will notice an almost immediate slowdown in the way your computer operates. This is due to the fact that a program like SpyPry takes up a lot of your computer's memory and resources. From the time you turn your computer on, a program like SpyPry will be running continuously in the background.

Finally, a program like SpyPry may perform a browser hijack. A browser hijack occurs when you attempt to visit a particular web page, such as your start page, and instead, your browser goes to a page you never asked it to go to. You can attempt to change your start page to its original location, but the SpyPry program will always change it back to its own home page. You may also notice occasional browser hijacks while you are surfing around.

How did SpyPry get there?

Many people install the SpyPry trial version on purpose to try to rid their computer of programs they don't want. The SpyPry program is advertised as a great anti-spyware program, and its own website suggests that millions of people have downloaded it, so it seems very trustworthy to many people.

You may also have had SpyPry bundled with other programs. In the case of a bundle, you can download one program and get multiple programs in return. This often happens with free versions of software, or if you are downloading freeware or shareware. In the future, watch what programs are being installed on your machine so you can stop bundled programs from being installed in the first place.

Removing SpyPry

If you wish to remove SpyPry from your computer, you have two choices. First, you can download a trusted anti-spyware program like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal) and run it once per week to keep your computer spyware and malware free. This is the fastest and easiest method of removing SpyPry. It's also one of the safest. With the right anti-spyware program on your side, the chances are good that you won't have further problems with programs like SpyPry.

On the other hand, you can attempt a manual removal of SpyPry. Please note that manual removals of programs are dangerous. Whenever you attempt to manually remove a program from your hard drive, you are deleting files and, often times, system registry keys that can't be brought back once they are gone. Your system registry is an extremely delicate part of your computer, and one single mistake can turn your computer into an expensive paperweight. Before you attempt any kind of manual program removal, please back up your entire registry and all of the important files on your computer.
