Spyware Secure Removal

Pop-ups, warning messages, and slower computer performance can be indications of a number of problems, and they usually mean that a rogue antivirus program has been installed on your computer.  Spyware Secure is one such program that can cause these symptoms and more.

What is Spyware Secure?

Spyware Secure is a rogue antivirus program and behaves typically of others in that category, with a few exceptions.  In most cases, this program tries to persuade users to download Spyware Secure in order to fix security problems it finds within your system (which are false alarms).  It performs much like other rogue programs, SpyLocked, ContraVirus, and MySpyProtector.

Is Spyware Secure Installed on My Computer?

If Spyware Secure has been installed on your computer, you will notice several changes. As with other rogue antivirus programs, the first and most obvious change will be that you notice a lot more pop-ups.  These proliferate when Spyware Secure has been installed.  These, along with false warning messages, urge you to purchase the protection that Spyware Secure claims to offer.  The warning messages typically show a list of security risks its scan has discovered in your computer (which are all false).  You are given the option to repair the corrupted files.  Once you click on "Repair," however, Spyware Secure will download and install itself.

If Spyware Secure has been installed in your system, you are sure to notice that your computer is running much more slowly than usual.  This is because Spyware Secure is constantly running, using your system resources to do so.  The difference in speed will probably be seen most in rebooting, your internet connection, and transitioning between programs.

Like other rogue antivirus programs, Spyware Secure can hijack your start page.  You will then be redirected to the Spyware Secure site and urged to buy the program.  When you reset your homepage, Spyware Secure then changes it back upon reboot.  This, and changed desktop shortcuts, is a good indicator of a rogue antivirus program.

What Can Spyware Secure Do to My Computer?

This rouge antivirus program can cause the issues mentioned above, as well as others.  Spyware Secure has the ability to connect to the internet and launch pop-up ads without your consent.  This means that you may be bombarded with ads at any time, even when you are not connected to the internet. The program starts whenever you turn on your computer and is stored in the resident, or permanent, memory of the computer.  This makes it extremely difficult to remove manually. Another feature of Spyware Secure is that it can update itself.  It can connect to the internet and install new versions of itself, obviously without your consent or involvement.

Like many other rogue antivirus programs, a big risk is that computer users will be tricked into purchasing Spyware Secure.  When a warning flashes on our screens, telling us that we have multiple security risks, we want to do whatever we can to protect our computers.  It is understandable why so many people click OK to remove the security threats or opt to purchase the protection offered by the program. These warnings, however, are false and designed solely to scare users into purchasing an unnecessary product.  When people do buy Spyware Secure, they find that none of the problems is resolved and they may even experience new difficulties.

How Did Spyware Secure Become Installed?

Rogue antivirus programs like Spyware Secure install themselves in a variety of ways.  One of the most common is to use a Trojan horse to sneak into your system.  This can happen if you download freeware or shareware, which often come accompanied by these hidden Trojans carrying other programs. Sites that feature peer-to-peer file sharing, pirated material, and other adult websites are also often targets for Trojans, and you may have picked Spyware Secure up there.  Often, you don't even need to click on any links or ads to have the program download itself.

It is also possible that Spyware Secure was installed through your email.  Opening certain attachments, and sometimes even just opening an email, can cause programs like these to install themselves.  Trojans take advantage of existing security risks, so your email can be a way for them to gain access to your system.

Clicking on any ads or warning messages also causes Spyware Secure to become installed.

How Do I Remove Spyware Secure?

If you notice any signs that Spyware Secure is installed on your computer, you should take action to remove it as soon as possible.  It is very important to remove every trace of the program so it is completely gone from your system, otherwise it may still cause problems.  Trying the Add/Remove Programs utility is not likely to be effective.  You may remove visible traces of Spyware Secure, but rogue antivirus programs are savvy enough to evade this type of action.  Running your current virus scan program is not likely to work better, though.  Rogue antivirus programs like Spyware Secure are not classified as viruses, so your program may not be able to detect it, much less remove it.

In order to effectively eliminate the program, you should purchase a software program designed to remove rogue antivirus programs.  These programs behave differently than viruses, and you need a program that can both detect and remove them.  A program like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Malwarebytes has free malware removal) thoroughly scans every part of your system in order to root out Spyware Secure and other programs like it.  If you have little technical knowledge or experience, or time in which to manually remove the rogue antivirus program, purchasing a software package is the best option.  It is the safest way to remove Spyware Secure, fix your current problems, and prevent any future difficulties.

Your other option, of course, is to remove the program manually.  This requires a great deal of knowledge of the inner workings of computers.  If you don't know the ins and outs of your system registry, for instance, you don't want to attempt this.  One of the risks with manual removal is that you will not eliminate the entire program.  This can cause Spyware Secure to recreate itself, leaving back where you started.  You may also inadvertently delete a file that you need, causing more damage to your system.  This is best attempted only by professionals or those with extensive experience.  If you choose to pursue this option, you will need to do the following:

Remove SpywareSecure processes:

Delete Spyware Secure DLLs:

Remove SpywareSecure registry values:

Detect and Delete these SpywareSecure files:
