System Security 2009

System Security 2009 - As Secure As It Sounds?

Keeping your computer safe is probably one of your top priorities. However, much of the software that looks like it was designed to keep your computer safe from many of the problem programs online today is simply rogue security software that won't help you save your system. System Security 2009 is just one of these many programs.

What is System Security 2009?

At the heart of the matter, System Security 2009 is a rogue antispyware program that can use some concerning tactics to convince you to purchase the full version of the program. It often appears on a user's machine as the direct result of a Trojan. Alternately, though, many download a trial version thinking it might be ideal security solution in a world of problem programs. Closely related to the similar program called SystemSecurity or System Security, there are lots of similar applications out there including ScanBaseOnline, Security Examine, The Online Security, WWW Protection Read, Best Click Scanner, Your Stability System, Scan Security Online. If it is installed on your computer, you'll probably notice a number of things.

One of the first things you may notice if System Security 2009 is installed on your machine is false system scans. The scan window itself looks a lot like the Windows Defender window that comes with many of today's Windows Operating Systems. In the top left corner, you'll see a multi colored shield that emulates traditional Windows colors. You'll also see the System Security 2009 logo. There are buttons for Registration, Update, and Support across the top right side of the screen. The left panel plays host to a number of different tabs including System Scan, Protection, Privacy, Update, and Settings. The bottom left even has a button you can  click to get real time protection. Clicking on it, though, only leads you to the main System Security page. The rest of the application window is devoted to the system scan itself, and there you'll not only see a progress bar, but also a list of the results. In most cases, the results on the list look quite frightening. It is important to note, though, that none of the results are actually as scary as they look. System Security 2009 is designed to find these results on every single computer, so it is quite likely that these programs aren't really installed on your machine. They're just false positives found by the program.

In addition to scan windows, you may also notice new security alert pop ups on your computer. These almost always appear on one of two forms. The first type is the most frightening to computer users, as it actually takes the form of a Windows Notification Balloon. These are the little messages that pop out of your system tray (the area next to your computer's clock). Most of them say something like Security Warning or Infection Detected. The text typically asks you to click on the warning so you can update your protection. Clicking on the balloon, though, will only lead you to the System Security 2009 home page where you'll be prompted to purchase the full version of the program. The other type of security alert you may see takes the form of a traditional pop up window. It will usually tell you an infection or security problem of some sort has been detected. Like the pop ups that resemble Windows Notification Balloons, these also tell you to click on the ad so that you can update your protection.

You may also notice a change in your internet browser if System Security 2009 is installed on your machine. The program can not only change your browser's start page to the home page for the program, but it can also redirect you in the midst of a browsing session. Instead of arriving at the page you clicked on, you'll probably be redirected to a security alert page that leads back to the home page for System Security 2009.

How do I Remove System Security 2009?

If this program is installed on your computer, removing System Security 2009 is your best bet. Fortunately, there are two reliable ways to get rid of it. Many users, though, believe their current antivirus solution will take care of a program like System Security 2009. This typically isn't the case. Because this program isn't classified as a virus, removing System Security 2009 probably isn't your antivirus solution's priority. You may need to employ one of the two following methods.

The first way to remove System Security 2009 is to do so automatically with a reputable antispyware solution like ParetoLogic's XoftSpySE . Installing a program like this will not only help you get rid of this problem program, but it will also help protect you in the future.

The second way to remove System Security 2009 is to manually take it off your computer. This, however, will involve a bit of specialized knowledge. You'll not only need to remove a number of files from your machine, but you'll also need to edit your computer's registry. If you're a novice user, that process can be a bit tricky. If, however, you think this is the best method for you, a list of associated files follows.
