Advanced System Optimizer is one of the best registry cleaner and system utilities' software packs available on the market. It is easy to use, fast and safe - three of the most important features every registry cleaner should have. While certainly not a cheap program, Advanced System Optimizer is worth its price.

Interface

The interface's design is pleasant to look at and intuitive, with the navigation divided into clear categories (no digging through various sub-sub-menus). The standard look of Advanced System Optimizer is very Windows XP-like, but since the program supports skins, it wouldn't be difficult to find something more to your liking. So far, there are only four skins available, but there are more being designed all the time.

Main features

Advanced System Optimizer lets you learn all about the way your PC works. In addition to all the usual features, it includes an Auto-Start manager, a very useful tool that allows you to check what programs are loaded at logon. This becomes extremely handy if you have to fight adware/spyware infections.

Advanced System Optimizer includes all kinds of optimizing/cleaning tools. It can clean the registry from unnecessary or malicious entries, prevent some programs from loading during the logon as well as clean the mess left after removing programs manually without using the Add or Remove program utility.

The best thing about the program is that you don't have to do this yourself. There is a set of very effective advisory features such as System Analyzer and Advisor will scan your computer and give you expert advice on how to optimize your PC. All you have to do then is click "Yes" and sit back - Advanced System Optimizer will do the rest for you. Of course you are not limited to auto-repairs and you are free to use the tools regardless of the advice, though it is not recommended. The ASO ideas on how to speed up your machine are usually top-notch.

Another interesting feature (though far from usual registry cleaning) is Advanced System Optimizer's capability to find and delete duplicate files and fix damaged files, including ZIP archives.

Safety

The main concern with registry cleaners is the danger of making a mistake while fixing the registry. Advanced System Optimizer avoids most of those dangers by using its advisory system - the automated changes made by ASO do not cause system malfunction. What's more, Advanced System Optimizer allows you to leave some vital parts of the system registry alone (useful in case of untypical configuration) and includes the full restore/backup system that lets you to undo any changes you've made while working with ASO.

Other features

As an extra bonus, Advanced System Optimizer also includes a notes-posting application. Unlike many similar programs, the application works just fine and is very unobtrusive while using. Another useful tool is the spyware scanner that comes with ASO. While it is weaker than many stand-alone spyware removers are, it is always better to have one tool too many when dealing with pesky adware.

Advanced System Optimizer is a high-quality universal tool for repairing and optimizing your system. It is much more than a registry cleaner though, and if you need only to clean the system registry, you might choose some cheaper solution instead of Advanced System Optimizer.
