RegCure review

RegCure is a small, yet capable registry cleaner bundled with several other useful performance optimizing features. While certainly not the best program in its category, RegCure is a useful tool when it comes to solving practical problems. If we add on its relatively low price, RegCure becomes an interesting alternative to other, better known, but much more expensive programs.

Interface

The program's interface is easy to use, but relatively plain and not very appealing (especially to those who don't like blues and grays). The product's configuration options are somewhat limited, but you'll be able to easily configure the most important settings yourself.

Main features

RegCure offers all the usual features of the most state-of-art registry cleaners. In addition to the registry scan and fixing all missing/illegitimate registry entries, RegCure can also scan your machine to find invalid file associations, wrong application paths and clear all leftovers of manual software uninstallations. What's more, the program is also able to clean up the start up program list. This tool really helps your PC to start quicker and with less lag. Unfortunately, a few useful options such as monitoring/killing existing processes are missing, reducing the usability of RegCure in case of spyware infections.

Beside that, RegCure does little to optimize your PC's performance, leaving such features as disk cleaning, defragmenting or spyware removal to utilities packs. All of RegCure's options are directly related to registry cleaning, making the whole procedure much easier to perform. They include such features as an easy-to-use scheduler that allows for tests to be performed automatically during off-hours and a decent backup/restore tool.

Safety

RegCure is a relatively safe tool to use; though it relies mostly on creating registry backups. You can add some registry keys to the "Ignore" list, but you are required to do it manually. Also, RegCure does not show the threat assessment of errors it finds, so it is hard to tell how to react to the scan results.

Summary

RegCure is a simple, but quite capable registry cleaner. Its strongest points are scanning speed combined with a high effectiveness rate when it comes to catching problems; its major weakness is the fact that it only has an average level of safeties, making it a good tool mostly for moderately experienced users. Most people are surprised when they realize the vast differences available in a simple utility like a registry cleaner. There are some that are decked out with a dozen extra features and there are others that are simply a registry cleaner, and that's it. For those looking for the latter, RegCure is a good choice. But be warned, every time you delete something, you need to be sure that what you are doing is safe. We recommend setting a System Restore point before every use of RegCure, just to be on the safe side. A registry cleaner can cause damage to your PC if you aren't use to using them, and since the safeties on RegCure are a bit on the slow side, you need to police yourself.
