Registry Fix ReviewProduct: Registry Fix
RegistryFix review
RegistryFix is an excellent shareware registry cleaner. Unlike the utilities software packs like ASO or Fix-It Utilities, RegistryFix is a dedicated registry cleaner and while it has several useful tools for managing other problems, it is still mainly a registry cleaner with only limited capabilities in disk managing and diagnostics. Interface
The interface is really very simple and even an inexperienced user can easily master most RegistryFix options. The menu is intuitive, easy to understand and, what is even more important, it has the backup options accessible from the main menu - a nice touch, especially for novices who often forget about creating a registry backup before cleaning. Main features
As RegistryFix is mostly a registry cleaner, it naturally lacks all hardware diagnostic tools. But on the bright side, the program offers a vast number of key area scanners that are able to detect and remove all kinds of problems such as invalid registry keys, incorrect file associations, illegitimate or unnecessary programs running at startup and invalid shortcuts. Taken together, they allow the user to greatly improve the system's performance and prevent computer slow downs and even crashes. Unsurprisingly, RegistryFix lacks many disk optimizing tools such as disk cleaners, defragmentation tools and other similar add-ons. However, due to the fact that such tools are often incorporated in the system itself, it might be also seen as a plus, as it makes RegistryFix much faster, smaller and easier to manage than complex utility packs. Safety
There are two important safeties used by RegistryFix to help prevent any possible damages caused by the user. First, it has a good backup/restore capability, allowing you to undo virtually all changes made by using the program. Then, by choosing only the system areas known to cause problems, RegistryFix leaves all vital parts of the system alone, greatly reducing the chance of harming it instead of healing. Unfortunately, RegistryFix lacks the threat assessment of registry errors, making it difficult for an inexperienced user to determine what should be done with them, and for newbie computer users, this is extremely important since you don't want to accidentally delete something that you need to operate your PC. Summary
If you are looking for a cheap and flexible registry cleaner, RegistryFix is certainly one of the more cost-effective choices. Keep in mind however, that RegistryFix is just a good registry cleaner with some files and folder cleanup options, not a complete utility software pack, so it has only few diagnostic and everyday disk maintenance tools. RegistryFix is a good choice not only for novice computer users but also for those watching their budget. So many registry cleaners have come out in recent years with ever-rising price tags, it's nice to see a reasonably priced program on the market, too. Having a registry cleaner is absolutely vital in this day and age, but it isn't a program you should be expected to spend $50 or more on. RegistryFix fills a niche by providing a simple yet reliable cleaner with decent safeties for a reasonable price. |
